Over 500 plaintiffs' attorneys from across the country attended the legal seminars related to mass tort drug recalls, including the recently recalled arthritis drug Vioxx. The conference afforded attorneys the opportunity to network and plan strategies for the upcoming Vioxx litigation. Merck pulled its popular arthritis drug from the market on September 30, 2004 after studies indicated there was an increased risk of strokes, blood clots, and heart problems in patients who took the drug Vioxx.
